We are searching for a Home Services Volunteer who will be responsible for carrying out the duties that increase patients' level of comfort, cleanliness, and ability to live independently. The Home Services Volunteer will improve patients' quality of life through the completion of basic household chores and/or maintenance. We are looking for a volunteer who models our core values and has a professional and positive attitude!
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
* Provide home cleaning services such as sweeping, mopping, washing interior windows, washing, folding, and putting away laundry, washing dishes, wiping countertops, vacuuming, and general tidying up.
* Perform basic home maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, tightening or replacing loose screws, changing a/c filters, unclogging drains, replacing batteries, etc
* Perform seasonal outdoor work such as mowing the lawn, raking leaves, trimming hedges, planting flowers, or weeding.
* Complete appropriate records in compliance with the hospice’s policies and procedures.
* Recognize emergencies and have knowledge of emergency procedures and their application.
* Know the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of and ways to work with the populations served by the hospice, including the need for respect for the patient, his or her privacy, and his or her property.
* Understand and adhere to the Sacred Journey Hospice, Inc. vision and Organizational Philosophy, and advocates its philosophy.

Hospice is living with quality end of life care. Our organization is for patients with many types of illnesses. While about half of our patients have some sort of cancer, a large segment of our patients have cardiac and respiratory disease, renal disease, neurological illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease, Lou Gehrig's disease, AIDS, cirrhosis and other terminal diseases.
