ORGANIZATION: Elder Wisdom Circle

This is a micro-volunteer opportunity requiring about 15 minutes to complete.

The ElderWisdomCircle is an online inter-generational program where younger people (mostly teens to 20's) obtain encouraging advice and wisdom.

We pair younger people with an empathetic grandparent figure who offers advice and wisdom on a wide variety of topics. Our award winning program has created almost 500,000 one-on-one connections.

The EWC was a pioneer in virtual volunteering offering older adults a way to volunteer online from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Now with the Covid-19 pandemic older adults are urged to stay at home and many of them are seeking meaningful ways to serve the community.

With so many Elders wanting to OFFER advice we need more young people who WANT ADVICE.

Our mission is to provide an opportunity for seniors to utilize their life experience and wisdom to help others by offering thoughtful and helpful advice to younger generations

Description

We are a web-based nonprofit service organization that pairs online advice seekers in their teens, 20's and 30's with a nationwide network of Cyber-Grandparents, aged 55 to 105, who share their hard-earned knowledge and wisdom. Our Elder members participate individually from their home computers or in groups at retirement communities (with the help of a facilitator). Anyone with access to the Internet can request anonymous advice on any topic and will receive a personalized e-mail response in return. The voice of experience is hip, sincere, and highly sought after by people of all ages; we are the most popular source of free online advice in the country. The Elder Wisdom Circle has been featured on ABC, CBS, BBC, NPR, and in many publications including USA Today and Time.
