Mission Statement

St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary shares in the mission of Jesus Christ "to bring the good news to the poor" (Luke 4:18) in the training of future leaders. The seminary’s primary mission is to foster the human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation of candidates for the Roman Catholic priesthood so that as ordained ministers they share the joy of the Gospel with all. Acknowledging the cultural makeup of Catholics in the United States, the seminary distinguishes itself in offering a comprehensive bilingual formation program, preparing future priests for ministry in both English and Spanish while cultivating a rich and diverse multicultural community. The secondary mission of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary is to provide graduate theological education for permanent deacon candidates, clergy, religious, and laity as well as to offer ongoing clergy formation programs so that the evangelizing mission of the Church may continue and broaden its reach.

Description

Welcome to St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary. Our seminary, located in Boynton Beach, Florida, is owned by the 7 Dioceses of the Province of Florida and draws on students from Florida, the Southeast region, and beyond.

Since the seminary's foundation in 1963, over 600 priests have been formed and gone on to serve in parishes throughout the Southeast and the Caribbean. Preparing candidates in the four dimensions of priestly formation (human, spiritual, academic, and pastoral) is our expertise and primary mission at St. Vincent de Paul. We also foster a bilingual and multicultural environment in recognition of the growing Hispanic presence in the United States. St. Vincent is the only bilingual theologate in the country.

The seminary is a free-standing graduate/professional school of theology offering the Master of Arts (Philosophical Studies for Missionary Discipleship) (MAPS), primarily for pre-theologians as well as lay students, the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), for priesthood candidates, and the Master of Arts (Theological Studies) (MATS), for permanent deacon candidates and interested laity. The seminary is also committed to providing continuing education for clergy, religious, and the lay faithful.
