Volunteer Drivers Needed to Deliver Lifesaving Blood Products to Local Hospitals!

How does it feel to help save a life? This is your chance to find out! If you have a little free time, love driving, and enjoy meeting new people, the Red Cross has a great volunteer position for you.

Why Is This Position So Important?

The Red Cross collects and distributes about 40% of our nation’s blood supply. When you deliver blood, platelets, or other blood products to a hospital, you’re delivering hope to a person when they need it most.

About This Position

Are you a dependable, safe, and courteous driver who can help us make this important delivery?

Volunteer Transportation Specialists deliver life-saving blood products from Red Cross distribution facilities to hospitals. In some cases, Red Cross vehicles are available for use. If not, a reimbursement of $0.14 per mile will be offered. We need you to commit to 2 shifts per month (or more if you can!). Typical shifts are about 4 hours but can take longer due to traffic.

You’ll also need to meet these important qualifications:

  • Have a valid state driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Have 3 years driving experience and a clean driving record
  • Can lift up to 45 lbs.

Each volunteer shift you take is another opportunity to help save a life.
