JVS 2017

Flexible Scheduling; 1-4 hours a volunteer work.

JVS is a non-profit, non-sectarian workforce development agency. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers; and to partner with employers to hire, develop and retain productive workforces.

JVS provides a broad range of services including adult education, skills training, job readiness training, job placement and support, and access to post-secondary education. JVS assists employers in their search for well-qualified job applicants and their initiatives to upgrade the skills of their incumbent workforce.

Program/Department Overview:

The Business Services program has provided customized services, workplace ESOL, and other trainings to local businesses and organizations for over 20 years. Business Services partners with employers to plan, design and deliver customized workforce development programs at the employer’s site, with the two-fold goal of helping lower-skilled employees perform their jobs more effectively and transition to higher-paying jobs, while supporting employers to develop, retain, and advance their workforce. We partner with 20+ major employers throughout Greater Boston in the healthcare, hospitality, retail and manufacturing sectors; providing basic education, job training, career ladder, coaching, college readiness and citizenship services to over 1,400 workers per year.
