Help adults and children cope after a disaster by providing emotional care and support.
Our mental health volunteers are required to have a current license or certification in social work, psychiatry, psychology, counseling, psychiatric nursing, marriage and family therapy.
Duties include:
- Perform mental health screening/informal assessments.
- Provide emotional care and support.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Educate workers and clients about emotional recovery and effective coping techniques.
- Make referrals for additional mental health services, based on guidance from supervisor.
- Seek guidance from supervisor as necessary and appropriate.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Follow and implement requests and direction received from your supervisor.
