Help adults and children cope after a disaster by providing emotional care and support.

Our mental health volunteers are required to have a current license or certification in social work, psychiatry, psychology, counseling, psychiatric nursing, marriage and family therapy.

Duties include:

  • Perform mental health screening/informal assessments.
  • Provide emotional care and support.
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Educate workers and clients about emotional recovery and effective coping techniques.
  • Make referrals for additional mental health services, based on guidance from supervisor.
  • Seek guidance from supervisor as necessary and appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Follow and implement requests and direction received from your supervisor.
