Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

Join our dynamic, energetic team to help keep the ReStore running smoothly! Work with the managers, staff and other volunteers to manage one or more sections of the store, keep donations moving through our stockroom, get donated items priced and ready to hit the floor, keep store sections stocked and tidy, and assist with customer service by serving as a resource to shoppers on the sales floor. Available Volunteers Shifts are every Tuesday-Saturday, 10AM-1PM or 2PM-5PM

Essential Position Functions:

  • Learn the pricing structure for various frequently donated items
  • Clean and organize items in the back of the store
  • Carry items to the sales floor
  • Provide excellent customer service to all shoppers
  • Organize items and maintain cleanliness of the store
  • Assist in rearranging vignettes and other special displays


  • Great customer service toward donors and ReStore customers
  • Ability to work closely with staff, donors, volunteers, Habitat homeowners, and customers
  • Self-sufficient, requiring little supervision
  • Cooperative attitude
  • Ability to bend, squat, and lift at least 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to regularly commit to one, 3 hour shift per week.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy of Habitat for Humanity

Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God's people from all walks of life to build simple, decent, affordable homes and to strengthen neighborhoods.


Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent affordable homes in partnership with those in need. Families purchase these houses at cost through interest free loans. Richmond Habitat is a non-profit, 501c-3 affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an organization founded by Millard and Linda Fuller of Americus, Georgia. Currently we build 18 houses a year with the help of generous corporate support and thousands of volunteers. Houses are built in the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield and Henrico.
