Performing Arts Musical Director
Classification: Part-Time, Non Exempt, Temporary
Compensation: Stipend of $1,000 for 7 weeks
Hire Dates: June 28 - August 14, 2021
Schedule: Monday- Thursday (Times vary per site)
Site: Multiple locations in Baltimore City ( You will be assigned to 2 sites)
Experience: At least 3-5 years of Directing experience (preferably with children/youth)
Driving license (Preferred)

*DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:*

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

-Establishes clear goals and objectives for the process and show product
-Plans and prepares rehearsals, casting, choreography, music, lessons, blocking, and activities
-Execute success of overall production
-Commute to each site and provide 2 hours of directing instruction.
-Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of youths needs;
-Creates an nurturing and inclusive environment for youth to freely create
-Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
-Craft production elements such as lights, sound, and set.
-Creates a environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve objectives;
-Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities;
-Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for volunteers
-Performs other duties as assigned.


*Job Requirements *QUALIFICATIONS*:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

-Ability to work with diverse populations;
-Possess strong background in drama, theory, history, performance, music, choreography and pedagogy in various genres
-Casting, blocking and directing longer plays and musicals for performance;
-Ordering scripts and coordinating stage production, including sets, props and costumes;
-Managing productions, including tech, lighting, sound and backstage management;
-Provide enriched solo and small ensemble experiences for students
-Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process;
-Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education;
-Ability to infuse technology into curriculum;
-Ability to work effectively with youth parents, colleagues, and community.

We aim to strengthen creative skillsets by utilizing art exhibitions, musical theater, art therapy, creative writing, and creative entrepreneurship education. Through our program youth develop confidence, social skills, life skills and critical thinking to face life's daily challenges.
