The Client Specialist supports the individual needs of clients with empathy. The Client Specialist coordinates action plans and provides guidance to client based on recommendations of LPC.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Provide individual support to 2-3 individual clients
  • Gather case information
  • Meet (in-person) for weekly check-ins
  • Coordinate case-relevant action plans
  • Make referrals to social agencies when necessary
  • Report regular case summaries

Additional duties may include

  • Résumé writing with client
  • Disinfecting common office areas
  • Providing duty relief to front entrance volunteer(s)

*This position operates under direction supervision of NMNM LPC and Volunteer Coordinator. Cloth masks, sterile gloves, and other health & safety precautions are part of our new office operations.

Time Required: 4 hrs./wk

Duration: 6 weeks

Minimum Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or similar field (preferred)
  • Must be able to communicate informatively and empathetically in high-emotion, high-stakes situations
  • Knowledge of social services & community resources
  • Understanding of legal concerns & reporting
  • Must pass background check

Fluency in a language in addition to English is a plus

Program Requirements and Training: 7 total training hours

  • 1.5 hours - orientation & initial training session
  • 1.5 hours - Reporting & Community Resources
  • 2 hours - observation of client specialist
  • 2 hours - client specialist activities under supervision of NMNM Counselor

Client Specialists will gain an understanding of treatment planning/case management and gain experience serving vulnerable populations. This position is ideal for those interested in psychology, counseling, social work, education, and community-based work.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated based on successful completion of key job tasks; LPC review, and client surveys.

Volunteers with prior criminal histories may not apply for the Client Specialist position. Please apply for another available position.
