To continue our support of homeless communities during the public health concern around COVID-19, Rise of Broken Women has been distributing face-masks to homeless shelters and homeless individuals on the street. The is a critical need as New York City’s homeless shelters are breeding ground for the coronavirus given the lack of protective gear and sanitary procedures needed for people in shelters. Approximately 58,000 homeless individuals comprising of women, children and men, who seek shelter are ill and have a comprised immune system.

Description

Rise of Broken Women was established by Charlee Newman, who received first-hand education on the issues that face homeless women, when she found herself residing in a homeless shelter for two years. Charlee created the Rise of Broken Women to be the guide for homeless women in New York City shelters. Rise of Broken Women continues successfully in addressing the needs of women and children in New York City's homeless shelters and on the streets.
