About the position

*Looking for volunteers within the US*

The organization is accepting volunteers that wants to gain experience working on team projects that would benefit the public. This opportunity prefers experienced android developers but may accept inexperienced developer if they are fast learners. Use of the volunteer's skills will be tested in hackathons, and when we publish applications on Google play. Skills that will be improved are team collaborations, communication, implementing APIs, and how much you understand front end and back-end code

Do you have the ability to?

  • Develop, test, deliver, as well as enhance consumer-facing Android based apps across multiple platforms.
  • Establish select designs for implementation.
  • Write clean maintainable and modular code and participate in peer reviews.
  • Implement custom native user interfaces using the latest Android programming techniques.
  • Building and maintaining Android SDKs utilized in many other popular consumer-facing applications.
  • Improve our tech stack, tools, and processes.

Best if you have

  • Experience in working on android platforms.
  • Experience in open-source frameworks.
  • Experience with Git and GitHub
  • Good communication skills with different stakeholders such as QA, Project Managers and Product Owners

  • Licensing costs of our technology stack that includes wide range of development, analytics, graphics design, customer relationship management, reporting and communication tools.

  • Running and maintaining servers for all projects.
  • Travelling for hackathons (when applicable)

Description

Comida For Familias, Inc. currently has community that is mainly made up of software engineers and designers that want to utilize their knowledge and expertise to develo technology for public benefit. Potential volunteers are suggested to go to our website project page ( https://comidaforfamilias.org/projectlist) to see projects that we plan to do, are currently working on, or have completed.
The organization also competes in hackathons and designathons to challenge volunteers and trainees to complete projects within the span of hours.

As a scientific research organization concerning food, we also encourage volunteers to post educational videos about exercise and nutrition to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
