Breakthrough Silicon Valley is committed to serving our students on their path to college during this time. We have transitioned our normal in-person middle and high school summer programs into a fully virtual summer program in light of COVID19. To ensure all our families have equal access to resources, we will be providing lunch to those who have indicated a need.
We are seeking 2-4 high school graduates to support the administration of our lunch program . This person will work alongside staff to troubleshoot any issues regarding vendors, families, and operations of the food program. This person will own the pick-up process for our families, including setting up stations that follow safety guidelines, tracking pick-ups from families, and working with our vendors to ensure timely food delivery.

Requirements:
- Set-up lunch stations following safety guidelines
- Work with vendors in ensuring a timely delivery
- Maintain an accurate count of meals picked-up by families
Qualifications:
- Must have reliable transportation to and from our office
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Detail-orientated and ability to creatively problem solve
Time Commitment:
- Available June 8th - 12th for onboarding (approx 5 hours total)
- Monday’s and Wednesday’s 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- June 24th - July 24th, 2020
Stipend
A stipend of $500 will be paid to the volunteer to offset living expenses for the duration of their internship. ( Note this is taxable income)
Location
The food program will operate at both of these locations, however a volunteer will be only at one location for the duration of the program.

Description
Breakthrough’s innovative Students Teaching Students model partners middle-school students with college and high school students who serve as teachers, role models and mentors, providing real-life examples that it’s 'cool to be smart’. Breakthrough boasts a proven ripple effect of positive results: 93% of Breakthrough student alumni are accepted to college preparatory programs and 72% of Breakthrough teachers, many of whom were Breakthrough students, go on to pursue professional careers in education.
Students commit to a minimum of two years of tuition-free intensive six-week summer sessions and after-school programs in which they take classes in core academic subjects, and participate in elective courses ranging from astronomy to African-American literature. Breakthrough's classes are rigorous and small (a maximum 4:1 student to teacher ratio) and full participation and attendance is expected of every student.
