Seaside Seabird Sanctuary is currently seeking volunteers to assist our wildlife rehabilitation staff inside our avian hospital. Volunteers will assist with numerous duties such as diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, assisting during medical examinations and procedures, administering medications, filling out patient medical charts, and other duties as needed.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, wildlife rehabilitation, zookeeping, or animal care, and a great opportunity for anyone interested in helping to care for sick or injured wildlife!

Volunteers with previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting are prefered, but staff will train all new volunteers.
Requirements to become a Seaside Seabird Sanctuary Hospital Assistant Volunteer are as follows:
* Must be at least 18-years old.
* Possess a valid driver’s license or state ID.
* Must be able to maintain a friendly and professional attitude.

*Certain hospital duties require special training before allowed to perform.

The Seaside Seabird Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured wild birds, public education, conservation, and research. The Sanctuary's 1.5-acre property houses a full service avian hospital, outdoor rehabilitation areas, and over 100 permanently injured resident birds on display - ranging from songbirds to seabirds to raptors.

To rescue, treat, and rehabilitate sick and injured wild birds with the goal of releasing them back into their native habitat in the wild. To educate the general public about Florida's native wild bird population, and how to prevent and reduce man-made dangers wild birds face everyday.

Description

Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, LLC was founded on July 13th, 2016 as a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating sick and injured wild birds. On September 1st, 2016, Seaside opened up their 1.5 acre full-service avian hospital and sanctuary located in Indian Shores, Florida. Seaside was granted its 501(c)(3) non-profit status three months later on December 15th, 2016. On March 30th, 2017, the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary held its official grand opening.
