Inland Empire United Way and the American Red Cross Blood Program will roll up our sleeves and help save lives! Inland Empire United Way will proudly partner with the American Red Cross to hold what we expect to be the first of many blooddrives. The Red Cross has over -135 years of experience providing humanitarian aid including more than 75 years of supplying blood to those in need. Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country. We are very excited about the drive and I hope you are too.
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
Thank you for supporting the American Red Cross blood program!
Volunteers will be needed to:
- Assist in checking in blood donors
- Taking blood donors' temperatures
- Sanitizing and cleaning all surfaces
Our blood donors will be coming in for their appointments throughout the day, so there will be moments of activity and lulls throughout the day. If you need a verification of hours or signature of any sort, please let the coordinator know ASAP. Volunteers with prior experience in the medical field, public health sector, or currently completing hours for the BRN or CADPH are highly encouraged to sign up and volunteer!
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older. There will be no exceptions. Please note that volunteers will be coming within physical distance of blood donors for an extended time throughout the day. All volunteers will be temperature checked and screened before being able to volunteer. Volunteers may choose to volunteer from 9:00am-5:00pm and will be scheduled for breaks and lunches as necessary.
Once you have submitted your volunteermatch inquiry, IEUW's Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, Crystal Lam, will be in contact with you to confirm your opportunity.
