The Longest Day Event Committee Member - VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITY

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. During that month, the Alzheimer's Association encourages people across the world to stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer's through an event called The Longest Day.

The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. And it's the day the Alzheimer's Association calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer's disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support and research.

Participants get involved because their lives, or the lives of their loved ones, have been touched by Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. Participants choose an activity to do on or around the summer solstice. Activities may vary by what your hobby is or a favorite activity of your loved one with the disease. Golf, a party, a hike, a cookout, a game night or craft social are examples of events, Choose the date, time and invite your friends and family to join you.

This event of the Alzheimer's Association needs help growing in Wisconsin. Can you help? We are looking for people to join our planning committee to outreach out in the community, connect with local media, post on social media as well as host an event

Mission Statement

The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia -- by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Description

The Alzheimer’s Association works on a global, national and local level to enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. We have local chapters across the nation, providing services within each community. Our services include a professionally staffed 24/7 Helpline, facilitation of local support groups, comprehensive online resources, and community education programs.

As the largest non-profit funder of Alzheimer's research, the Association is committed to accelerating progress of new treatments, preventions and ultimately, a cure. Through our partnerships and funded projects, we have been part of every major research advancement over the past 30 years.

The Association is the leading voice for Alzheimer's disease advocacy, fighting for critical Alzheimer's research, prevention and care initiatives at the state and federal level. We diligently work to make Alzheimer’s a national priority.
