Are you a social butterfly? Do you love organizing and meeting new people? Bring your strong interpersonal and communications skills, solid organizational skills, and ability to multi-task to join our Pink Space Theory team as a volunteer coordinator where you’ll positively impact our community, our organization, and those in need.

Pink Space Theory's (PST) mission is to promote and spark students' interest in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM) through project-based and design centered learning challenges. If you are thinking, "This sounds amazing, what do you need help with?"

We are currently seeking a volunteer coordinator who will manage our world-wide volunteer network including:

  • Update volunteer intake survey as roles changes
  • Develop and respond to volunteer surveys that have been submitted by prospective volunteers
  • Manage placement of ads for volunteers on VolunteerMatch
  • Manage gestures of appreciation and thanks for current volunteers
  • Collaborate to develop new volunteer recruitment strategies
  • Collaborate to keep a list of current volunteers up-to-date
  • Help organize volunteer data
  • Implement systems to interact with volunteers
  • Other administrative tasks as needed

To engage students through individualized, student-centered, and hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math programs. To stimulate students’ passions and abilities to think critically, communicate freely, and work with others in collaborative and creative ways.

Description

Pink Space Theory (PST) will integrate science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM) into project-based learning challenges for K-8 students using a mobile makerspace ("mobile fab lab"). The team-based activities will include robotics, computer-aided, and tactile assisted design. This will be the first such program in Northern Virginia.

The goals of the program are to:

  • Complement what students are learning academically,
  • Introduce students to new ways to approach subjects to help them understand challenging concepts, and;
  • Enhance technological literacy to enable students to effectively use technology to access, evaluate, integrate, create, and communicate information through STEAM activities
