ORGANIZATION: AMERICAN RED CROSS

The Disaster Workforce Engagement team is responsible for ensuring that onboarding, engagement (to include
deployment), development (to include training), retention, and recognition are provided to the workforce within Disaster Cycle Services. The DWET also initiates Staff Services tasks during a response, transitioning to Staff
Services operationally, in the Deploy process.

Responsibilities: Disaster Workforce Engagement Team Member

  • Manages the Opportunity Queue and receives new applicant referrals
  • Meets with Disaster volunteer applicants to determine if the candidate is an appropriate fit for DCS. Either accepts placement into DCS or refers back to Volunteer Services for a different assignment
  • Manages Expectations of an Opportunity
  • Welcomes and orients the volunteer to appropriate systems and/or structures, policies and procedures, and the social community of the team
  • Creates a career path for the volunteer & monitors progress - alerting the Regional Onboarding, Placement & Profile Management Lead when applicant is trained for a position/GAP
  • Refers volunteers to Supervisors for engagement & additional training
  • Trains volunteer on Volunteer Connection (Volunteer hour reporting, training, Update Disaster Responder Availability, Update DAT availability, update personal information, etc.)
  • Monitors volunteer engagement & satisfaction
  • Works with the Training Lead, DAT Coordinator, Activity Leadership and the Disaster Program Manager or Specialist to ensure that needed training is scheduled in the territory
  • Participates in monthly touch base meetings with Workforce Engagement Manager, DPM/DPS and
    Volunteer Services
  • Uses Volunteer Connection to document outreach & important consideration or milestones
  • Uses EDGE to monitor completion of assigned training
  • Supports the Territory with volunteer call down as needed for to initiate Staff Services, operationally
Disaster Workforce Administration
  • Serves as part of a regional team that monitors for deployment opportunities in the DOOR
  • Facilitates call down to territory DCS Responders to provide for deployment opportunities
  • Directly supports the deployment of workforce members within an assigned geography
  • Utilizes Disaster Workforce to assign volunteers for deployment - reviews the DRO Summary Record with deploying workforce members, liaises with Resource & Mobilization Support, provides Mission Cards and ensures a deploying member’s readiness for assignment
  • Stays connected with volunteer during their deployment and ensures that volunteer is interviewed/de-briefed upon return and that performance evaluation is uploaded to Volunteer Connection
  • Identifies or communicates opportunities for workforce promotion & development
Qualifications:
  • Enjoys working in a support services capacity - customer service focused
  • Proficient with basic computer applications in MIcrosoft Office
  • Posesses excellent communication skills and able to facilitate interviews in-person and over the phone
  • Able to work independently and with teams
  • Able to commit to ongoing training, conference calls and meetings
