Rainforest Partnership is seeking a volunteer head of operations to lead us into the next phase of helping Rainforest Partnership make a significant impact in protecting tropical rainforests and addressing climate change.

Your role will be crucial to us successfully operating globally during the next six months and you will have an opportunity to replace yourself with a permanent head of operations. Please join us as we grow our capacity for happy people, healthy forests and a hopeful future.

RP’s head of operations oversees everything internal, freeing up the CEO to focus on external matters such as fundraising, public relations, partnerships as well as overall project direction and board engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee multiple functions at Rainforest Partnership as jointly determined with the CEO, including RP’s global engagement initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning
  • Lead the development and implementation of the necessary processes and approaches needed to realize the vision and the mission to achieve the goals.
    • bring efficient, effective and documented systems to increase the productivity of the organization
    • maintain oversight and real-time awareness of activities within their suite of responsibility, and take action as required to facilitate workflow and successful completion.
  • Coordinate and lead teams and delegate assignments as needed
  • Implement, adjust and help develop annual project plan and associated budget needs
  • Lead budget execution and oversight activities, including periodic budget reviews
  • Report to the CEO in providing status for top level organizational performance assessment, key decision making, board meetings and other purposes as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to think strategically, tactically and entrepreneurially to help RP adapt and evolve.
  • Experience in leading and managing remote teams while upholding RP’s values and culture among a high functioning group of culturally and linguistically diverse, talented individuals.
  • Ability to build teams and systems that deliver measurable, cost-effective results
  • Process focused: Ability to evaluate and develop existing processes, experience with process development tools preferred
  • People focused and naturally collaboratively; ability to bring the best out of people.
  • Views challenges as opportunities and focuses on solutions and effective problem solving
  • Understanding of full range of business functions including finance, systems, business development, marketing, communications and HR
  • MPA, MBA or similar advanced degree preferred
  • Background in climate change, environmental causes, rainforest protection a plus
  • Comfort and ease with use of technology and RP’s many tools and platforms.

Prefer full-time volunteer but will consider minimum starting at 20 hours a week for the right individual.
