The First Place Family Center is a refuge and place of support for children and their families who are low income, at risk of losing their housing or are already in transition between homes due to job loss, health issues and other critical problems. We have been a safe place for people in crisis for over 20 years.
First Place includes the Annex Night Shelter, where volunteers help to offer a home cooked meal, facilitate evening activities and clean overnight accommodations for families throughout the year; and the First Place Preschool, where volunteers help to focus preschool aged children on class-time and help with activities such as crafts and gardening.
We are looking for volunteers mainly for our 5-9pm shift but have others shifts available.
This is a busy center and we would hope that potential volunteer applicants have experience working in trauma informed care, or working with children, have volunteered in a respite space in the past or experience working with a diverse community.
