DOSOMETHING SUMMER AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

Don’t miss out on your chance to make a real impact this Summer!

When: June 15, 2020 - August 14, 2020

Where: Remote

Join us for an intensive 8-week virtual program where you’ll learn directly from DoSomething staffers on how to be an effective change agent and community leader. Ambassadors will dive deep into the causes young people care about, from poverty alleviation to mental health, and will play an integral role in our national Voter Registration drive leading up to the 2020 Presidential Election. Plus, you’ll have access to career development seminars and workshops including one-on-one resume consultations, career mapping, and mock interviews.

As an Ambassador, you’ll:

  • Gain practical, hands-on experience leading community activations.
  • Connect with a cohort of young people across the country through online communities and webinars.
  • Network with industry professionals, social good experts, and DoSomething leadership.
  • Earn volunteer credits.
  • And (drumroll, please) get the chance to pitch your own national campaign for DoSomething.org!

What does it take to be an Ambassador?

To participate in the DoSomething Summer Ambassador Program, you must be:

  • Between the ages of 18 and 25 years old by June 15, 2020
  • Currently residing in the United States
  • Able to commit to 10 hours a week for 8-weeks (12 PM - 2 PM ET Mon - Fri)
  • A current DoSomething member ( register here today!)

Here are a few key traits that we’re looking for:

  • Leadership. You have a track record of rallying people around a cause. Whether it’s on-campus or within your community, your peers look to you as the one with a clear point-of-view and plan of action.
  • A Passion for Impact. You believe that large scale change can happen and that all young people have both the agency and ability to make an impact in their communities.
  • Open and Clear Communication. You have incredible communication skills, and are able to succinctly and passionately persuade others to take action.
  • Self-motivation. You’re self-motivated, resourceful and creative about problem-solving, and know when to ask for help when it’s needed it.
  • You 'Get’ Young People. You understand what makes young people tick and love being immersed in pop culture, emerging tech, and social platforms. It’d also be great if you had experience or an interest in grassroots and online organizing.

How do I apply to the Summer Ambassador Program?

All applicants who wish to be considered must fill out our application form, and submit a resume and 500-word personal statement before the June 5, 2020 deadline.

Protip: Use your personal statement to tell us more about who you are, what causes you care about, and why you want to be a DoSomething Ambassador this summer.
