The Hammond-Munster Corps Corps Community Center is in need of volunteers to meet the growing need of individuals and families in Lake County who need food assistance during this time. The Food Pantry is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
We need volunteers to assist with...
- Intake, as clients line up in our foyer they are asked for basic information to be added to an intake form
- Packing food boxes according to the size of household, and placing them on carts
- Taking carts filled with food boxes to be placed outside of rear door fort clients to load in their vehicles
- Collecting the carts outside, bringing them into the building to sanitize and reuse
- Restocking the shelves of the Food Pantry
- Assisting with storing the food being delivered by the Food Bank and other vendors.
- For their protection, we will provide all volunteers with approved face masks and latex gloves.

In communities throughout Chicago and the surrounding five-county area, we extend emergency and supportive assistance from 28 corps community centers, 80 service extension units, the Emergency Disaster Services Center, residential programs, mobile units, and several counseling sites.
