DemocracyLab connects skilled volunteers with technology-for-good projects, resulting in better civic technologies, more active citizens, and more efficient institutions. The Marketing Assistant will help to increase brand awareness and cultivate relationships with participating projects, nonprofits, governments, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Design, Content Creation and Product teams to ensure consistency of Brand voice for various initiatives
  • Develop marketing outreach strategies for various channels, such as social media, website, and newsletters
  • Create outreach campaigns including publishing schedules
  • Create, or oversee the creation of, marketing outreach copy to be used in campaigns
  • Track metrics and report on campaign/initiative results
  • Attend DemocracyLab events and other similar sector-wide events
  • Cultivate relationships with local and national media
  • User research to understand volunteer, potential volunteer, project leads, nonprofits, potential partners, etc., desires, needs, and online habits

Basic Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of marketing experience
  • Willingness to commit to 4+ months of volunteering with DemocracyLab in this role
  • Track record of being a self-starter, and manages time well
  • Track record of working well with others
