Volunteer Greeters act as the first point of contact to visitors as they enter the Merrifield Center*. Their responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming the public, answering questions about CSB programs, and directing visitors to various spaces in the building, assisting with paperwork, and other duties as assigned
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of CSB programs and procedures (training will be provided)
  • Upholding the CSB’s standards for creating a warm and welcoming environment by actively engaging visitors in a friendly manner

Critical skills required:

  • Friendly, welcoming and proactive attitude
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to memorize and convey information to visitors
  • Comfort in interacting with visitors of varying ages and backgrounds

Program Schedule:

  • We are looking to develop a pool of about 20 greeters to handle three-hour shifts. Shifts will be available Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Bi-lingual volunteers are especially needed.

* Opportunities are also available at other CSB sites throughout Fairfax County.

Description

When you join our volunteer team, you will receive training, supervision, diverse educational experiences, and opportunities for personal growth. Various positions are available throughout Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. The times and days available are flexible and include some evening and weekend opportunities, as well as regular weekday hours. By providing direct service, administrative support, or participating in special projects, volunteers are valuable members of our team.
