Girl Power Biz Camp

We are looking for Public Relations professional to volunteer their time and expertise. You will be responsible for helping us to build our company's and founder's digital footprint in the marketplace. Please note that we are a small, volunteer-based organization and this will be a grassroots effort. Unfortunately we do not have a marketing budget. Thus we will need to find strategic innovative ways to accomplish our goals.

In brief, you will help us refine and elevate our marketing and PR strategy. You will help us to establish and maintain relationships with our audience, organizations and companies, media outlets etc. by writing press releases and other media communications, responding to requests for information and press interviews, seeking out opportunities for our founder to do interviews, write and publish articles, blogs, etc.

Public Relations Responsibilities:

  • Responding to requests for information release or press conference from the media or designating a spokesperson or source of information
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships
  • Writing press releases and other media communications to promote organization and its founder
  • Helping to plan online / virtual activities that will help bring awareness to the organization and it's founder
  • Studying the organization's objectives, promotional policies, and needs to build public relations strategies that influence public opinion and promote products, ideas, and services.
  • Preparing and editing organizational publications for internal and external audiences.
  • Identify trends and group interests and providing advice on business decisions
Would be great if you have some of the following:
  • Bachelor degree in journalism, PR, marketing or related field.
  • Experience handling a press conference.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pitch to media.
  • Knowledge of marketing.
  • An ability to work on big strategy plans as well as day-to-day tasks.
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically.
  • Ability to run PR campaigns that deliver measurable results and meet objectives.
  • Deadline-oriented, inquisitive, with great follow-up and reporting skills.
  • Creativity in securing coverage and buzz with traditional outlets.
  • Understanding of social media and solid experience working with bloggers.

B~STEM Project’s primary focus is to provide young girls and women opportunities to gain in depth insight and understanding into the business of STEM disciplines across industries. We also offer an extension of holistic programming for both boys and girls that takes a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to STEM instruction.

BSTEM allows students to engage, learn and grow on both an academic and personal level. Our programs offer exposure into a variety of industries from entertainment, advertising and fashion to robotics, agriculture and life sciences. We simulate real life scenarios with a curriculum that’s project driven. The knowledge and skills acquired are reinforced through practice, coaching and mentoring by industry specific professionals.
