In the midst of the current economic crisis, more families in our local community are needing extra assistance. There is a tremendous need for groceries and other essentials, but mostly for hope. Heart of Compassion is continuously Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope and we need your help!

Join us to fight the war on hunger by being a volunteer during our Tuesday and Wednesday Public Food Distributions.

We need kind-hearted people like you to:

Register our guests, load shopping carts, control traffic, or load our guests' vehicles.

Volunteer Days and Times:

Tuesday 9am-noon

Wednesday 9am-noon

Our mission is to be a lighthouse of volunteers fighting poverty and restoring hope.

Description

Heart of Compassion is dedicated to being a lighthouse of hope and help for Montebello and our local communities. We rely on our valuable volunteers to help us achieve our mission of Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope. We currently provide loads of groceries for about 600 families weekly at our public food distributions.

Mondays 9a.m.-12p.m.: volunteers needed to bag produce
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8-11a.m.: volunteers needed to register recipients
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9a.m.-12p.m.: volunteers needed to load groceries into shopping carts and recipient vehicles

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 13
  • We are flexible if volunteers need to leave early.
  • Volunteers must be at least 13 years old (and minors must be accompanied by an adult) to help with our food distributions. Volunteers must wear a safety vest (provided if needed), wear closed-toed shoes, wear a mask and gloves, and be flexible.
