Description

Windhaven Therapeutic Riding (WHTR) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization devoted to providing a fun and safe environment for all service members and veterans who struggle with physical and invisible wounds of war. The program was conceptualized in 2015 and began lessons in 2017. To date WHTR has supported 49 Veterans participate in 733 equine facilitated lessons.

WHTR is a volunteer run organization offering opportunities such as barn crew members, instructors, board members, horse leaders, and more. Our goal at WHTR is to continue providing services to Veterans with a herd of equine partners that are well cared for and love the work they do.

In order to continue providing services as a non-profit organization we are dependent on the support from our community. WHTR is currently funded through fundraising events, donations, and sponsorships. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in canceling two main fundraising events identifying the need for support from a volunteer grant writer to persuasively communicate WHTR’s mission and program to potential funders to increase financial sustainability.

WHTR is always in need of extra support from passionate people. If you are interested in volunteering please reach out! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
WHTR
