Quick Overview: Open Paths Counseling Center is looking for an experienced LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or PhD, to hold either weekly two-hour supervision group(s) or one-hour triadic supervision sessions for a pre-licensed, Masters-level group of psychotherapists, clinicians and social workers.
Mission: Open Paths Counseling Center was formed in 1979 as a compassionate response to the lack of affordable mental health services in Los Angeles. Its mission is to meet the evolving mental health needs of the community through quality counseling for individuals and families at affordable fees; free therapy programs for at-risk children and youth in local schools; and a highly respected therapist training program. We specialize in working with marginalized communities, and 75% of our clients are people of color. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Open Paths has moved all of its sessions video or by phone and is fully operational.
Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: The volunteer Clinical Supervisor would hold either weekly two-hour supervision group(s) or one-hour triadic supervision session(s) for our pre-licensed team of MFT, PCC, and MSW clinicians, providing guidance on individual cases presented by the team, and exploring different potential approaches for diverse communities. The ideal candidate would have familiarity with intersectionality in populations that include: low-income families; communities of color; LGBTQIA; and perpetrators/victims of intimate partner abuse and violence.
This volunteer opportunity is offered and managed by L.A. Works RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) Pro Bono whose mission is to utilize the professional experience of adults age 55+ to help fulfill the missions of nonprofit organizations.

Tens of thousands of committed volunteers together with thousands of civic, nonprofit, and business partners have enabled L.A. Works to make a significant, visible, and lasting contribution to Los Angeles.
Since 1991, L.A. Works has mobilized and led volunteers to contribute over a million hours to Los Angeles through unique volunteer programming, which has included:
- Serving meals and preparing emergency food provisions for over 425,000 homeless and low-income individuals;
- Providing educational and enrichment activities for over 65,000 disadvantaged youth;
- Revitalizing schools, parks, and community centers for more than 200,000 volunteer hours;
- Offering companionship to seniors and friendship to abused and homeless women for more than 20,000 volunteer hours;
- Conserving, cleaning, and restoring urban and natural environments in and around Los Angeles for more than 75,000 volunteer hours;
- Caring for animals in shelters and sanctuaries at over 1,200 volunteer projects; and
- Training more than 900 Angelenos in the project and volunteer management.
