We’re looking for a volunteer with building, carpentry, or construction skills to build storage to hold artwork for ArtJam and for general usage. ArtJam is HomeFront’s annual pop-up gallery in Palmer’s Square, Princeton that supports HomeFront’s ArtSpace program. Daytime availability is preferred. You can click "I want to help" or email catherinec@homefrontnj.org if you’re interested!

The beginnings of this project will start now, and ramp up further as we hit June and the summer, with ArtJam taking place in October. We would like a volunteer to begin learning about and planning for the art storage now, while remaining socially distant and safe during this pandemic. The volunteer in this role would be around only 1-2 other people, socially distant, and in our outdoor blue garage, away from other people. Much of the beginning planning stages can happen off-site after an introduction to the space and project.

More about ArtJam:

This year, ArtJam is taking place October 15-25. ArtJam, now in its 11th year, is an annual curated pop-up art gallery in Princeton, New Jersey. Featuring the work of more than 100 well-regarded national and local artists alongside undiscovered HomeFront artists. The exhibit offers original, one-of-a-kind art for sale, including paintings, sculpture, pottery, glassworks and hand-sewn items from SewingSpace, a HomeFront sewing program. ArtJam directly supports HomeFront’s innovative therapeutic art program, Artspace.

The event is supported by sponsors and community partners ranging from local corporations to small business owners and friends of HomeFront.

Description

HomeFront is a non-profit agency in Central New Jersey with a host of programs to break the cycle of poverty, both for parents and their children.

HomeFront is a non-profit agency providing a comprehensive network of services for the poor and homeless in Mercer County, New Jersey. Mercer County includes Pr inceton, Lawrenceville, Ewing and Trenton. It is racially, ethnically, socially and economically diverse.

HomeFront programs provide emergency shelter and transitional and affordable housing. Our mission is to meet the immediate needs of food, shelter and safety and to help the troubled families break from the cycle of poverty. We work with single mothers, single fathers and families with histories of domestic violence, child abuse, drug abuse and intergenerational welfare. We also work with families who just cannot make ends meet in a declining economy.

HomeFront programs support literacy, education and employment for both children and parents. HomeFront helps parents work toward their GED and apply for and hold jobs. We provide preschool, after-school, tutoring and summer camp programs for their children. We work with the whole family.
