During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
At this time, we are requesting that volunteers support our on grounds operations. Volunteers will be asked to engage with visitors from a safe distance, share zoo visit information, and monitor and support visitor queues and social distancing. We are asking for your help to support our success and future as Rhode Island’s zoo.
The zoo is asking for volunteers for every day of operation Monday-Sunday with shifts in the AM 8:00am-12:30pm and PM shifts 11:30am-4:30pm. Without the re-opening date established, it may be hard to anticipate your availability. Right now, we are asking for volunteers 16+ that are current Rhode Island residents. Once the 14-day quarantine policy for out of state residents has been lifted, out of state residents will be welcome to volunteer.
Please know the zoo’s priority is that our volunteers remain safe. We are currently and will continue to take important safety precautions for staff, visitors, and volunteers. All these procedures are defined by the CDC, State, and City of Providence.
If you are able to support us in our reopening, know that your generosity during this time could not be more valuable or appreciated. If you can help or can respond on why you may or may not volunteer at this time - the zoo is requesting your feedback.
To do so please complete our survey-
The zoo is so excited to be open to the community soon, and to see you all.
