The Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization that houses a multi-disciplinary team that serves children that have been victims of abuse and/or neglect in Okaloosa and Walton Counties of Florida. We partner with the Florida Department of Children & Families and Walton County Sheriff's Office, Child Protection Units. These folks are getting the initial call when abuse or neglect is identified by someone in the child’s life. We also house 2 Assistant State Attorney’s, Dept. Of Health's Child Protection Team that specializes in Forensic interviews with the child, as well as a medical examination if necessary as part of the investigation process. We also have a staff of mental health therapists and advocates that are available to the child and their families to begin the journey to hope and healing through mental health therapy. All of the services mentioned are provided no charge to the family.
We could not fulfill our mission to bring justice, hope and healing to the lives of these families without the support of volunteers. We currently need a couple of front desk volunteers. You also have the option of being a fill-in front desk volunteer. Our potential volunteers are also required to pass a background screening, which includes being fingerprinted.
Some of the responsibilities of our front desk volunteers are; greeting families, answering the telephone, keeping a child company if the caregiver needs to speak with a staff member privately, baking our famous chocolate chip cookies and keeping the kitchen stocked with snacks and drinks.

Mission Statement
The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC)’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect, protect children, and restore the lives and futures of impacted children. The Centers in Walton and Okaloosa Counties house a multidisciplinary team of child protection personnel, prosecutors, law enforcement, Department of Children and Families (DCF), therapists, staff and volunteers. Services are provided at no cost by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The ECCAC does not discriminate on the basis of race, color national origin, sex, age or disability. Description
The Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center (ECCAC) provides services for children in Okaloosa and Walton counties that have been abused, neglected or assaulted.
Centers in Niceville and DeFuniak Springs bring together all the partners needed to assist children and their families from the investigation process through healing and restoring their childhood. No longer do children have to go from place to place as the process progresses. No children are housed at either center and all services are provided at no charge.

- Our front desk volunteers work in 3 hour shifts. Volunteers work 1x per week or a few times a month.
