Alonesy is a new concept that aims to make support more available to teenagers via an online mentorship program. We aim to provide teenagers with two different types of mentors. The main one, which is what we are currently seeking volunteers for is a typical Big Brother/Big Sister type of mentor that can connect with a child on an ongoing basis about everyday things such as school, dream jobs, family life, sports, etc. Our other type of mentorship program connects struggling youth to trained counselors whom are able to provide a higher level of support than our traditional mentors. Our mentor teams work together to ensure that we are providing the necessary support for each person. As a volunteer mentor, you would be asked to check in on a recurring basis with your mentee via text, FaceTime, WhatsApp, etc. and create a bond with them! This is a nationwide opportunity and does not require you to be in the same location as your mentee. Just having someone to talk to can make a huge difference in their lives. Before assigning a mentee to you, we will go over some basic guidelines and learn more about you to ensure that you are paired with the right person.

Mission Statement

Alonesy aims to provide free mentoring services to struggling teenagers through an online platform.

Description

Founded by Jack Bowers as a senior in high school, Alonesy is one of the only providers of free online mentoring services. Currently, many adolescents are not seeking support due to stigma, lack of accessibility, and monetary constraints. Alonesy was created to bridge the gap between upper and lower class individuals to ensure that every person in need has access to support.

Unlike a crisis hotline, Alonesy prides itself on providing ongoing mentoring services. Mentors meet with individuals on a weekly basis and check in via text throughout each week.
