*This is an unpaid volunteer position within LANFest, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Please note that there is no compensation for work completed in associate with this listing.
LANFest is dedicated to empowering gaming communities and supporting charitable efforts by creating unique gaming experiences. Our organization is currently looking for Drupal Back End Web Developers to assist with reconstruction and maintenance of our website. This volunteer position would be a part of a national team with flexible time arrangements and a helpful team atmosphere.
This position is ideal for someone interested in learning more about back end web development or has entry level experience maintaining websites. College students to retirees are welcome to inquire.
Responsibilities:
- Testing, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Write custom modules and integrations with 3rd party services.
- Ensures the performance and availability of Drupal sites, both on the front-end and back-end.
- Implementation of security and data protection.
- Design and implementation of data storage solutions.
- Collaborate with other team members as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Full-stack knowledge.
- Familiarity with user authentication and authorization between multiple systems.
- Experience managing hosting environments, including database administration and scaling.
- Experience with Data migration, transformation, and scripting.
- Familiarity with setup and administration of code and database backups.
- Outputting data in different formats.
- Understand differences between multiple delivery platforms such as mobile vs desktop and optimizing output to match the specific platform.
- Creating database schemas that represent and support organization processes.
- Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
- Proficient knowledge of PHP.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git/Mercurial/SVN is a plus.
- Basic architectural knowledge of Drupal 8 and Symfony framework is a plus.
- Proficient understanding of OWASP security principles.
- Understanding of "session management" in a distributed server environment.
- Ability to donate a minimum of 8 hours/month and attend a weekly status and team meeting.
