The ALS Association Iowa Chapter is looking for Spanish speaking volunteers to help with communication to people in Iowa with ALS who are Spanish speaking. Our Chapter is currently serving 3 Spanish speaking families, and we want to make sure we can communicate effectively to understand and support their needs.
The ALS Association offers a number of programs and services to Iowans with ALS, many of which could be made more effective for those who are Spanish speaking through the use of a volunteer translator. Programs like our Equipment Loan Program, consultation through virtual visits, phone and email conversations enhance the quality of life of people with ALS. For the people we serve who are Spanish speaking, these programs would be even more beneficial with the use of a Spanish speaking volunteer.
Due to the sensitive nature of this volunteer positions (access to confidential patient information), interested volunteers would need to go through a screening process.
