Board terms are 2 years in length with the opportunity for renewal. Board members are required to chair a committee, to regularly attend meetings and events. Each board member has an annual goal to Give or Get at least $1000 for GOTROC during our July - June fiscal year. If a member joins the organization mid-year, this goal is prorated upon written approval of the Board Chair or Treasurer.

There is a required minimum GIVE of $250 in cash from each member annually. This is the equivalent cost of one girl’s participation, including her shoes. This donation should be made shortly after appointment to the Board or at the beginning of the fiscal year. The easiest ways to do this are by donating through our website or by giving a check to the Executive Director made out to Girls on the Run OC.

Major responsibilities include:

(1) Organizational leadership and advisement

(2) Legal guidance and responsibility

(3) Financial management, including creation, adoption, and oversight of the annual budget

(4) Oversight of program planning and evaluation

(5) Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures

(6) Evaluation of the Executive Director

(7) Fundraising and outreach

(8) Promotion of the organization

Qualifications required include:

(1) Passion for the Girls on the Run mission, vision and core values

(2) Ability to contribute time including in-person meetings, web-based communications, and volunteer hours in support of GOTR events

(3) Connections to the local community

(4) Experience in at least one of the following areas:

(a) Financial management and/or budgeting

(b) Strategic planning

(c) Fundraising

(d) Marketing

(e) Previous board leadership

(5) Reside in Orange County
