Serve as a Wingman

Save to Favorites

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 3 people are interested

The Wingman Program connects low-income, combat veterans and their families, with people and businesses within their community, to provide services and goods to increase their quality of life.

As a Wingman, you will be sent a Mission to provide the requested services and goods to the veteran and their family. You are encouraged to be creative, resourceful and have fun accomplishing your Mission. You can solve the Mission independently or with friends, colleagues, family members, businesses or strangers!

All services and goods that are provided to veterans and their families through the Wingman Program are placed within one of seven categories. Each category provides opportunities to enhance the quality of life for a veteran and their family.

  • Health and Wellness
  • Education
  • Essential Needs
  • Transportation
  • Residential
  • Employment
  • Medical
Here is an example of a Mission that was sent to a Wingman and how it was accomplished.

Mission: To provide an eye exam and prescription eyeglasses to a veteran and his spouse
Quality of Life Category: Medical
How it was accomplished: The Wingman volunteer distributed letters about the veteran’s combat deployment and how his wife has been taking care of him to several eye specialists in the couple’s area. An Optometrist responded to the Wingman and provided an eye exam and eyeglasses at no charge to the couple.

Here are some additional ideas a Wingman can get started on accomplishing their Mission but the sky is the limit!
  1. Talk to local stores / businesses about donating services and goods to support the veteran needs.
  2. Set up a fundraiser with your business colleagues or through Go Fund Me and Facebook.
  3. Ask if your child would like to fundraise at school to complete the mission.
  4. Ask your neighbors if they have extra goods to give to the veteran.
  5. Rally your book club or employees to go in together and buy the services and goods.
Thank you for honoring a combat veteran and their family!
