Coach- Boys' Hip Hop Dance Team

We are looking for a team of committed coaches to join our artistic team and help us create the SoulGentz Hip-Hop Dance Team. The SoulGentz are the "Brother" organization to the SoulDeevas (www.souldeevas.com) and will launch with a competitive step team, a hip-hop dance program and a basketball program in August,

Due to the pandemic, we have suspended "in-person" practices for our existing teams and are doing virtual, team-building exercises and practices with our girls - many of whom joined the program the week before we had to shut down. Even as we are forming the boys' programs, we are anticipating starting virtually. The season will officially start in August. If it is safe to return to normal practices by then, the teams will hold practice on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the Pearl Studios in the Penn Station area of Manhattan. If not, we will remain virtual and coaches will schedule days/times that work for them to teach. We hope to recruit two coaches per team to cover one another in the event of absence and to support each other in the event that neither coach is able to commit a full three hours each week.

We are recruiting coaches for TWO hip-hop dance teams -

1. The Juniors (ages 8 to 12) - two positions available
2. The Seniors (ages 13 to 18) - two positions available

Each team will have a roster of about fifteen boys and we generally find that they are beginners - with about 10% of each team's members having some form of dance experience. The teams will be trained to perform and compete on local and national stages.

While coaching experience is not critical - experience in hip-hop dance is mandatory. We will consider a recent high school graduate with significant dance experience and will also consider a rising high school senior as an assistant coach for community service credit.
