Our Vision

We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate volunteers to make a difference for the Society’s annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) fundraising walk. Building a customer-centric culture is vital for the American Cancer Society to grow its relevance, revenue, and ultimately have the greatest impact on our mission.

In this role you will be talking to people who have previously fundraised for our event to invite them to join us again, be their cheerleader as they work to promote the American Cancer Society and raise funds for our mission.

Responsibilities include:

  • Calling past supporters to engage in our kick-off event, fundraise and participate in the annual MSABC event
  • Tracking activities and progress
  • Providing ongoing coaching, motivation and support
  • Promoting our fundraising best practices to increase their fundraising efforts

The following requirements are necessary for the role:

  • Complete required training

About American Cancer Society of Brooklyn

132 West 32nd St, New York, NY 10001, US

Mission Statement

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks raise awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. Each event is a noncompetitive 3 to 5 mile walk that brings people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer. The events raise money to fund innovative research, provide free information and support, and to help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it's most treatable. Making Strides of Brooklyn hosts over 30,000 people and raises over $600,000 for the fight against cancer. We hope to see you with us on October 9th at Maimonides Park!

The good news is that, thanks in part to the efforts of the American Cancer Society and money raised through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Relay For Life events, cancer incidence rates have been declining since 2000 and cancer deaths have been declining since 1989. Early detection has played a key role in the dramatic decrease. The goals for 2022 are to increase cancer screening rates in Brooklyn and decrease health disparities in the local community.
