Due to Covid-19 many regular volunteers are unable to deliver meals. Yet there is an increasing need for delivered meals. Help seniors in your community by delivering a hot meal and smile with Meals on Wheels Polk County.

Delivering meals is more than providing nutrition. You are warm smile and maybe the only person the client will see all day long! You are a safety net in the fight against social isolation.

Precautions:

  • Masks, gloves and hand sanitizer provided
  • Leave meal in cooler on recipient's doorstep - return to car and call recipient and ensure they pick up the meal.
  • Retrieve cooler and return container to Meals on Wheels
  • Report any problems or questions to Meals on Wheels
Must be 17+ years of age.

You use your own automobile (insurance required) to deliver 8-15 meals in your area. This is a 1-2 hour commitment. You select the days that fit your schedule.

Arrive 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.

Leading Through Experience! You've gained a lifetime of experience. Now is the time to put your skills and talents to good use by volunteering through RSVP. RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, community and service organizations, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of volunteers with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental accident insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
