About Us:

"It always seems impossible until it’s done." - Nelson Mandela

We believe that even the biggest problems can be broken down into small, achievable steps. Poverty and access to justice are part of the same problem. And to solve this, we just need to discover what the steps are.

At Open Door Legal, we’re pioneering the country’s first system of universal access to civil legal representation to dramatically reduce poverty and prove that the law really can belong to all of us.

To achieve this ambitious goal, we’ve created an award-winning and best-in-class legal aid organization full of passionate, dynamic, gritty, quixotic, and team-oriented people.

We believe that injustice is the heart of poverty and we're looking for someone to join us in having a systemic impact on how we, as a society, ensure justice for all.

***

We're hiring a summer intern to get practical and hands-on experience in talent and culture/people operations. We anticipate the work being very challenging, unique, and rewarding for you. Day-to-day work includes updating critical talent infrastructure and operations, candidate sourcing and recruiting, creating a staff-wide intranet, research on relevant culture and compliance news and resourcing, and building learning & development curriculum. This is meant to be a very comprehensive range of people/talent-related work, with the opportunities to focus per your interests. We are a fast-paced, high-volume nonprofit, and we guarantee that you will not ever be bored.

In your cover letter, you should indicate at least 2 reasons why you’re interested in talent & culture/HR, and what about our mission is compelling to you.

If you are interested in recruiting, talent development, culture management, people operations, and want to learn skills to start your career in this strategic position, then this could be the right opportunity for you. We value students who are passionate about access to civil justice, emotionally intelligent, self-motivated, have high attention to detail, and critical thinking skills, and can manage their time very effectively.

The law belongs to all of us.
