VIDA (Volunteers in Defense of Animals)

We are looking for foster parents for kitten season!!! We get calls every day about new litters of kittens who need saving otherwise they go to big LA County shelters that euthanize them if no one rescue can pull them out. It's kitten season, and we need to prep!

We are teaching people who have never fostered before how to care for kittens! We can work with what you're comfortable with - we can give you kittens who are eating wet food so you don't have to bottle feed, but if you're up for the challenge of bottle feeding, we can do that.

We are hosting lessons if we get enough people via Zoom! Let's rescue hundreds of kittens during this quarantine season when you're home all the time and have space/time to care for these teeny tinies!!

All supplies provided - you just need to care for them! We can also provide big kennels to keep them in so they don't run around!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 4-5 dogs and cats each week and rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and even dogs from Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already.

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.

We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.

We'll work with your schedule.
