VIDA (Volunteers in Defense of Animals)

We are looking for foster parents for kitten season!!! We get calls every day about new litters of kittens who need saving otherwise they go to big LA County shelters that euthanize them if no rescue can pull them out. It's kitten season, and we need to prep! Fostering is providing a temporary home anywhere from 2-6 weeks for little kittens (anywhere from 1-a whole litter, depending on your comfort zone). Regardless of your experience, you can help and make a difference.

We are teaching people who have never fostered before how to care for kittens! We can work with what you're comfortable with - we can match you with kittens who are eating wet food so you don't have to bottle feed, but if you're up for the challenge of bottle feeding, we can do that as well.

All supplies are provided, and we can also work together to determine how many kittens maximum you're able to handle - you just need to care for them!

If you need specialty supplies such as dog kennels to keep them in at night, we can accommodate as well.
Anything else that you may purchase that is additional to what we provide is tax-refundable as a donation! However, we will provide all necessities (food, litter, bedding, medication, etc.).

About Volunteers in Defense of Animals

19142 E Walnut Dr N, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already.

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.

We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.

We'll work with your schedule.
