Any pet owner will agree that the presence of a dog will warm the heart and inspire the spirit which is why Compassus hopsice is seeking friendly canines and handlers to join our volunteer team. Volunteers, along with their furry friends, would be fostering meaningful connections with patients in the Barry, Lawrence and Stone county areas that could benefit from pet therapy. The ideal volunteer is patient, compassionate and has a heart for the elderly and the dying.
For the protection of our patients all pets MUST be certified through an approved pet therapy certifying organization, such as Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, AKC Therapy Dog Program and Alliance of Therapy Dogs. We have information to help you get started if your dog isn't certified. In addition, human volunteers must complete our free training and complete a background check before seeing patients.
