Gentiva Hospice is looking for a companionship hospice volunteer that are looking to make a difference in the lives of others. Gentiva Hospice supports volunteers and appreciates the important role they play in hospice care. We also prepare volunteers with specific training and takes no advanced medical training or great commitment. All hospice volunteers are given assignments that best suite their time, skills, and interests. The companionship Volunteer serves as an additional support to patients and families dealing with a terminal illness and end-of-life issues.
Here are a few examples of how you can provide support:
*Providing companionship and emotional support to patients and their caregivers.
*Providing Respite (sitting with the patient) while the caregiver runs errands
*Run errands for the Veteran and their caregiver (grocery shopping and other errands as needed)
Direct Care Volunteers may also make tuck in calls to patients and families. All care provided by the Direct Care Volunteer is outlined in the Volunteer Care Plan and agreed upon by the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG).
***Due to the requirement set by the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), all volunteers are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19***
NO medical experience is needed as volunteers DO NOT perform nursing duties or dispense medications.
Please leave us your NAME, PHONE NUMBER and EMAILADDRESS so we can get in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss the benefits of being a Gentiva volunteer!
