Purpose:
Provide excellent customer service to enhance the visitor/client experience, executing temperature screening on visitors prior to their entry into the Red Cross facility. Visitors could include potential blood donors, clients, course participants, contractors, Red Cross employees and volunteers. This position serves as gatekeeper by providing additional screening the American Red Cross has implemented in the interest of the safety of the blood supply, recipients, other donors, staff, volunteers and general public health regarding COVID-2019 outbreaks
Responsibilities:
This position and temperature-taking screening station is part of additional screening the American Red Cross has implemented in the interest of the safety of the blood supply, recipients, other donors, staff, volunteers and general public health regarding COVID-2019 outbreaks.
- Greet visitors and model excellent customer service behaviors.
- Manage visitor flow at temperature taking station to ensure only visitors passing temp screen are permitted access into the Red Cross facility.
- Explain purpose of temperature screen to visitors and ensure they understand reason for facility or donation deferral if applicable.
- Facility Screeners will wear gloves at all times and change them between each visitor.
- Facility Screeners will use a new probe cover on an electronic thermometer or a new disposable thermometer for each visitor.
- Facility Screeners will be required to wear a facemask while working.
- Facility Screeners will use the following supplies: thermometer and probe covers, if applicable, trash basket, gloves, hand sanitizer, and Sani-cloths or Cavi-cid
Commitment:
Variable; shifts run from 6:30am-9:30am, Monday through - Friday. Volunteers can sign up for as many shifts as they like, pending availability.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills using diplomacy and tact
- Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds
- Ability to follow instructions and understand technology needed for position
Training:
- Review of re-screening process and expectations
- Course: Conducting Covid-19 Screening at Red Cross Facilities
- Additional training will be provided on the job.
