Take the challenge:

Volunteers are the community drivers in every Run location in Canada. Together with a committee of like-minded individuals, you will raise funds for breast cancer research and support programs through the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. Planning and organizing the Run takes time, passion and creative thinking. In partnership with volunteers and staff, you will be part of something truly extraordinary in your community. Although this is a national event, local success depends on volunteers like you. With your community insight, you will raise awareness, encourage participation, and drive fundraising results.

What’s Involved:

As the Community Outreach Lead, identifying and implementing opportunities to promote the CIBC Run for the Cure in your community (festivals and events, speaking engagements, clubs) is your skill. You have a great ability to encourage participation in the Run by connecting with the community and sharing the importance of the cause and impact of funds raised. Along with the support of your Volunteer Run Directors and Communications Lead you will coordinate the committee in the execution of pre-Run promotional events, ensuring logistics and volunteer resources are managed in a timely fashion throughout the summer and fall.

Time Commitment:

  • Monthly committee meetings from May to July and biweekly in August and September
  • Weekly tasks averaging 3-5 hours per week depending on the scope of tasks and time of year
  • Attendance at additional weekend events are required for this position!
  • Attendance and leadership role at Run events/opportunities leading up to & including Run Day
  • In person availability for Run Day and for two days prior

The ideal Community Outreach Lead is/has:

  • Access to a vehicle and the physical ability to setup and take down promotional displays
  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Exceptional relationship building and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Passion for the breast cancer cause

  • Building relationships in your community with a network of volunteers and community organizers

  • Orientation or Training
  • CIBC Run for the Cure takes place on Sunday October 4, 2020. The Community Outreach Lead will host presentations to encourage participant engagement committing 10 - 20 hours per month to outreach activities.
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable with public speaking and have experience making presentations. Experience delivering on-line presentations an asset.
