Position description:

We're looking for passionate, motivated volunteers who really want to help establish the new Los Angeles Chapter of S.Y.STEM Coalition! As Chapter President you get the opportunity to grow S.Y.STEM Coalition in LA and expand our reach.

This position will include working closely with the local Los Angeles volunteers, as well as connect with the national organization, to ensure you have what you need to successfully execute key programs for the LA branch. This is a great way to give back to the community while growing and exercising skills in leadership and coordination!!

Role Responsibilities:

• Build Strategy for Volunteer Recruitment - Where, How, Approach, etc.
• Develop annual organizational vision and goals
• Develop, inform, and support the board and the committees to carry out governance functions
• Establish priorities and tasks for the branch as a whole
• Ensure the organization’s activities are compliant and in furtherance of our mission
• Ensure effective external communications about the organization and its mission, priorities, importance, programs, and activities
• Champion the organization and advocating its mission to internal and external stakeholders

A little about S.Y.STEM Coalition:

We started 7 years ago in Tucson, AZ. 6 exceptionally talented and motivated people who wanted to give back to the community by helping k-12 students find a passion for STEM. We saw all of the poverty in our city and realized if just one of those kids from that community was able to get a great paying job in STEM, they could not only help themselves but also help their whole family break the cycle of poverty! Now the organization has over 40 volunteers, chapters in 3 different cities and growing! More than anything, being a part of this amazing organization has showed me that you really CAN change the world, one step at a time!
