Food Shelf, MNSure and SNAP Building

During this time of isolation for so many of our community members, a note from a NorthPoint Volunteer would be a wonderful, uplifting gift for our Food Shelf recipients. You can assist us by writing notes of encouragement to our neighbors. Our staff and volunteers have been seeing 100+ families a day at our Community Food Shelf and we are also continuing to deliver meals through our Mobile Food Shelf 5 times a month to people who cannot get to us.

NorthPoint will print and distribute your notes to our community members and help you spread kindness and hope in a time of uncertainty! Some ideas for what you can include in your note: words of encouragement, inspirational quotes, recipes, poems, jokes, artwork or any other creative idea to uplift a Northsider who is isolated now due to the COVID-19 coronavirus and in need due to our economy! Please include photos or clipart to make your note colorful!

Just send me an email at snewbury@npimn.org with your minimum 50 words and maximum 1-page note (saved as a Word document, 14 point font size please) and let me know if you want your name signed to the note(s) or just signed simply NorthPoint Volunteer. I will print it for you on NorthPoint letterhead and it will be delivered to one or our Food Shelf recipients.

If you are a student and want to earn school credit for your work, I give one hour credit for each note written and I can send you a record of your completed hours.

We would also like to have you complete this volunteer application to be part of this volunteer position: https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?AP=335122860&OR=1.

Thank you for considering joining us in spreading good wishes to our North Side neighbors!

Mission Statement

Actively partnering to create a healthier community. We envision NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center as a highly desirable place for healthcare: Where people of all traditions receive culturally-appropriate human services and clinical health care. Where best practices of prevention, primary care, and complimentary care are infused into an integrated health and human services approach. Where an emphasis on teaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices weaves NorthPoint into the total fabric of the community. Health education, proper nutrition, and self-reliance are promoted in appealing ways. Service expands beyond the original facility walls and is provided to teens, and single adults, as well as to families. Where the welcoming and caring atmosphere created by the professional health care staff, clinic staff, and human services staff and volunteers exceed patient and client expectations for expertise and adaptability.

Description

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is a comprehensive health and human services agency located in the heart of North Minneapolis. NorthPoint is comprised of two organizations: a community services nonprofit with a broad array of social and human services (NorthPoint Inc.); and a full service community health center (NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center) that includes medical, dental and behavioral health clinics. NorthPoint seeks to reduce health disparities, improve health outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of life for all residents of North Minneapolis by providing high quality medical, dental and behavioral health care, along with integrated social services such as its food shelf, housing resources and domestic violence services -- with respect, dignity and sensitivity to a culturally rich and ethnically diverse community.
