Volunteer at Washington English Center From Home This Winter!
Washington English Center
Volunteer at Washington English Center from the comfort of your home!
Are you looking for a meaningful, fun way to give back to the community this winter?
Washington English Center is a non-profit, community-based organization that uses volunteer teachers and tutors to provide high-quality educational services, access to technology, and life-skills programs to all adult immigrants in the Washington metropolitan area (and now that we are virtual, worldwide) regardless of ability to pay.
While our students attend class multiple times a week, we ask our volunteers to commit to only one day a week during each 11-week term. We provide teachers with a course syllabus and a textbook and use a unique co-teaching method to provide new volunteers with the support they might need throughout the semester. The WEC staff is also always available to support you or answer any questions.
We are currently recruiting volunteer English teachers and one-on-one tutors for our upcoming fall term. The term begins the week of January 11th (and runs through March 25th).
If you are interested please apply to our new volunteer interest form and winter sign up form . BOTH forms must be completed to be considered. As part of our on boarding process, a phone call from a WEC staff member will follow after completion of both forms. Please know you do not have to live in the DC area to apply but note that our hours of operation are all in eastern time . Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with us!
For more information about our programs OR to apply, please visit www.washingtonenglish.org/volunteers/ . We look forward to meeting you!

Formerly Language ETC, Washington English Center works to improve the lives of immigrants through education.
Since 1993, Washington English Center, formerly Language, Education, and Technology Center (Language ETC), a community-based program, has offered English and literacy training to low-income adult immigrants in the greater Washington area using volunteer teachers and tutors. Our vision is that all immigrants gain the education and support they need to build a better future for themselves and for their children. Our mission is to empower adult immigrants through education to become contributing and self-reliant community members. Our goal is to provide high-quality educational services, access to technology, and life skills programs to any interested low-income adult immigrant in the Washington metropolitan area, regardless of ability to pay.
