Location: Flexible, Worldwide | Duration: Ongoing

The Addis Clinic Mission:

To utilize telemedicine to care for people living in medically underserved areas.

To connect volunteer physicians with global health challenges.

To provide support to local partner organizations and frontline health workers.

Our specialty physician network is at the heart of our work. Without the dedication of our experienced and caring physicians, we could not support frontline health workers with expert consultations enabling them to provide superior care to patients who need it most.

We are seeking general practice and specialist providers who would like to volunteer 2 - 3 hours per month of case consultation via The Addis Clinic telemedicine platform. Consulting physicians will:

  • Hold an MD or DO degree and current license

  • Be willing to commit between 2 - 3 hours of consultation per month, as needed

  • Enjoy working with overseas medical staff to coordinate patient care

We welcome volunteers with all levels of experience in global health and telemedicine. Our brief self-paced training packet will give you the tools you need to get started, and our staff and your fellow volunteers are always available for support along the way.

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to utilize telemedicine to connect skilled physicians with underserved patients around the world by partnering with local organizations serving in resource limited settings.

Description

We utilize technology to bring specialty care to remote and underserved areas around the world.

Through partnerships with local organizations, we connect frontline health workers with our network of volunteer physicians to bring specialized care where it is needed most. Frontline health workers have access to our telemedicine system through a web browser or app on their mobile device, and provide patient information through our physician designed templates. We assign each case to the most appropriate physician in our volunteer network, where they review vital signs, symptoms, medical history, x-rays, and other images or videos provided by the referring clinician. The consulting physician has direct access to the referring frontline health worker on the ground, giving them the ability to ask questions, recommend further tests, medications, or advise a referral to a local hospital or clinic, if needed. Because the platform allows the frontline health worker in remote areas to communicate with volunteer physicians regularly, patients receive continuous care from expert providers while the ultimate responsibility of patient care falls in the hands of the frontline health worker.
