The foundation since 2000 has been giving stipend support to village girls in one left-behind area of western China, thereby enabling girls to imagine wider horizons and take advantage of better living and work opportunities outside of survival farming, sex work or sweatshops.

The Foundation has a website and is a group on facebook. However, the Foundation does not have the expertise to update the website and to take advantage of the facebook group.
the opportunity is to either redesign the current website or to start a new one and to teach the Foundation how to maintain it.
The second opportunity is to assist and teach how to use facebook.

About Guanlan Scholarship Foundation

Location:

13901 Drexmore Rd, Cleveland, OH 44120, US

Mission Statement

Educate girls today and it will create lasting change for the next generation, one girl, one village at a time in left-behind China.

Description

Since 2000, the Foundation has collected funds to support scholarships to fund 30-50% of yearly costs for schooling, grades 1 through 12, for girls of one village complex in a poverty region of western China. By 2019, 116 girls have received Scholarship funds, typically for four to six years, and as long as 10 years.
The Foundation has a close relationship with a partner organization in China, which is based in the population of that village and conducts the research regarding family need for scholarship support and distributes the scholarship annually.
The Foundation maintains records of each scholarship recipient's family need status and educational attainment. In addition the scholarship recipients report in writing annually how they are progressing through school and what their specific needs are.
The president of the Foundation continues to visit with the scholarship recipients and sometimes their families to understand how their lives are developing, if they are safe and gainfully employed or otherwise doing well. We also communicate on various Chinese language social platforms.
