Living Classrooms continues to serve the community throughout the ongoing response to COVID-19. The POWER House Community Center, a vital community-hub in East Baltimore, is providing essential meal distribution to support residents and families of the surrounding community.
To help slow the spread of COVID-19 in community settings, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended the use of face coverings. Even handmade cloth face coverings can be useful for helping community members avoid transmission and infection in areas where social distancing is difficult.
The easy to follow CDC instructions below demonstrate how to make a face covering using various household items. With no experience required, making these cloth coverings at home is a great way to help reduce community transmission among those most affected.

Living Classrooms is taking donations of face masks and cloth face coverings. Donated masks and face coverings will be distributed to families in the communities of East Baltimore and used by Living Classrooms’ front-line staff. Providing face protection that our community members can use in essential public settings such as grocery stores and pharmacies is an important part of protecting the communities we serve.
Clean, completed masks and coverings like the ones described in the CDC’s instruction guide can be donated by mail to:
